French Loaf Bread

French Loaf Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp. yeast
  • 2 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 5 cups of flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Sugar

Directions

  1. In a small bowl or measuring cup, add in 2 cups warm water, 2 1/2 tsp sugar and 1 tbsp. yeast. set aside for rise for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Add 5 cups of flour to a large bowl and 2 1/2 tsp salt. mix together.
  3. Add 2 Tbsp. of sugar to flour and mix.
  4. Transfer bowl to Kitchen Aid Mixer, and Attach Dough hook. Add in yeast mixture a little at a time and kneed until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Transfer Dough to large oiled bowl, roll it around to cover all sides of the dough ball with oil. Cover and let rest for 1 hour.
  6. After the dough has risen, turn onto a floured surface and kneed slightly to release all the air. Divide the dough in half and Roll each dough ball out into a 9″x16″ rectangle. Roll the dough like cinnamon rolls and tuck the ends under the loaf. Transfer loafs onto a large baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes, using a Bread Lame or blade of some kind and slice into the tops of the risen dough. Brush with melted butter and bake in a 400 Degree F Oven for 18-22 minutes.
